The Nederlandse Onderzoeksschool Wijsbegeerte (OZSW), or the Dutch Research School of Philosophy, is a collaboration of the faculties of 11 Dutch universities. It facilitates and stimulates research collaboration between the participating universities, and offers training for young researchers. The fifth annual OZSW conference will take place 10-11 November 2017 at Landgoed Zonheuvel in Doorn.

Keynote speakers

  • Christof Rapp (Munich)
  • Henry S. Richardson (Georgetown)
  • Åsa Wikforss (Stockholm)

Submission types

The OZSW invites proposals for symposia and contributed papers in all areas of philosophy to be presented at the conference. The program committee will strive for quality, variety, and diversity on the program.

Symposia

Symposia combine (up to 4) presentations on a common topic. Accepted symposia will be allocated 100 minutes, including discussion. They can have any format, however, book symposia and proposals that include speakers from different philosophical subdisciplines or speakers from other disciplines are especially encouraged.

We invite submissions of both a short abstract (max. 100 words) and a full proposal through our automatic submission system by 15 July 2017. (However, we will review symposia proposals as soon as they come in and will try to make early decisions about their acceptance in order to give symposia organizers more time for the organisation of accepted proposals.) To submit, please save your full proposal as a PDF file. Then follow this link to our Conference System. Please note that first time users have to register as users of EasyChair. The full proposal includes the title of the proposed symposium, the names of all (intended) speakers, a general description of the topic and its significance (up to 1000 words, excl. references), and (intended) titles and abstracts of max. 100 words of all papers.

Contributed Papers

We invite submissions of both a short abstract (max. 100 words) and an extended abstract (500-1000 words, excl. references) through our automatic submission system by 15 July 2017. To submit, please prepare your abstract for blind review, and save your extended abstract as a PDF file. Then follow this link to our Conference System. Please note that first time users have to register as users of EasyChair.

The OZSW conference is meant to provide a comprehensive overview of the philosophical research done in the Netherlands. In order to keep to this idea while at the same time reducing the number of parallel sessions, we decided to encourage the organization of symposia (see above) and suggest three types of contributed papers: posters, research showcase talks, and spotlight talks. Posters will be presented during a dedicated poster presentation session. The showcase talks will be allocated 20 minutes (including discussion), while spotlight talks will receive 40 minutes (including discussion).

Acceptance into one of the three categories will be decided by the program committee on the basis of blind peer review of submitted abstracts.
