On October 30, we will celebrate the third anniversary of the Centre for Political Philosophy at Leiden. The CPP is an interdisciplinary platform for political thought, bringing together all those with active interests in the field at Leiden University. The CPP is an initiative of the Institute for Philosophy and the Institute for Political Science at Leiden University. For upcoming events, see our website: www.centreforpoliticalphilosophy.nl We will celebrate this anniversary with a lecture by Philip Pettit. Prof. Pettit is Laurance S. Rockefeller University Professor of Politics and Human Values at Princeton University and Distinguished Professor of Philosophy. He is the author of thirteen books and hundreds of articles, including: The Common Mind (1993); Republicanism (1997); The Economy of Esteem (with Geoffrey Brennen, 2004) and most recently On The People's Terms: A Republican Theory and Model of Democracy. (2012). The title of his lecture will be : “A Brief History of Liberty, and its Lessons”. All are welcome! Date: Thursday 30 October, 16.00-18.00; followed by drinks.
