Mini-conference by women in philosophy, 28th June 2014

Women are still very underrepresented in philosophy. We are committed to creating a more balanced environment and empowering women to pursue a career in academic philosophy. That is why we invite women philosophers (BA, MA, PhD candidates) to present their work at a mini-conference in Amsterdam. The conference will be organized by students from the Research Master program of the University of Amsterdam.

We accept papers on any philosophical topic. The goal is to create an opportunity for women to present their work in a semi-public and semi-formal setting to their peers. Moreover, we hope to have a valuable gathering that facilitates exchange between young women in philosophy. Non-women philosophers are also invited to attend the conference.

What: mini-conference by women in philosophy
When: Saturday 28th June 2014, 12-18:30h (with dinner afterwards)
Where: Amsterdam (near Amsterdam Zuid station)

Guidelines and deadlines for abstracts and presentations
–    Send in an abstract of maximum 500 words before 31st May to Marie van Loon (vanloonmarie@gmail.com). All philosophical topics are welcomed.
–    Authors of chosen papers will be notified by 15th June.
–    Presentations at the conference will be 20 minutes, with 20 minutes discussion afterwards.
–    Only (people who identify as) women are asked to send in papers.

Information about the conference
–    Sign up for attending the conference by sending an e-mail to Marie van Loon (vanloonmarie@gmail.com). There is no deadline, but there is a limited amount of participants possible. First come, first serve.
–    Participation will be free, but we will ask all participants to help cover the expenses for lunch and dinner.
–    Participation is open to all students and PhD candidates in philosophy.
