The OZSW supports the summer seminar on Science and the Big Questions, which is organized on 18-21 August 2014 by VU University Amsterdam. The OZSW supports the summer seminar on Science and the Big Questions, which is organized on 18-21 August 2014 by VU University Amsterdam. This summer seminar is intended for advanced Bachelor and Master students, PhD-students, postdocs, and faculty members in the sciences, philosophy and theology who have an interest in speaking knowledgeably about the intersection between science and big philosophical topics. Scientists and philosophers of different persuasions will give lectures and engage each other on the following issues: Decision theory and rationality; Evolution and morality; Brain research and consciousness; Free will; The nature of explanations in science, philosophy, and every day life. More information can be found on the event website. The final deadline for registration is August 1st 2014, or until the available places have all been filled. The registration fees are are as follows: Bachelor or master student: 100 euro PhD student: 150 euro Postdoctoral researcher: 200 euro OZSW members get a discount of 50 euro on the registration fee.
