On September 25th, we will hold the next meeting of the Practical Philosophy Colloquia organised by the Leiden Institute of Philosophy in collaboration with the Centre for Political Philosophy. On September 25th, we will hold the next meeting of the Practical Philosophy Colloquia organised by the Leiden Institute of Philosophy in collaboration with the Centre for Political Philosophy. The event will be a talk by Dr. Enzo Rossi (UvA). The title of his presentation is: "Should Consent Matter for Legitimacy?" Dr. Enzo Rossi is an assistant professor of political theory and the co-editor of the European Journal of Political Theory. His main focus is the relation between the descriptive and the normative study of society. More specifically, he is interested in (i) methodological issues in political theory, e.g. realism vs. moralism and, relatedly but separately, ideal vs non-ideal theory; (ii) the historical development of liberalism; (iii) the legitimacy and justification of political authority; (iv) the accommodation of diversity; (v) the intersection between those issues. Those interests are combined in his current project of developing a realist theory of legitimacy. The colloquium will take place from 15:15 to 17:00.
