This synchronic, or perhapsbetter still, monochronic conception of globalisation’s temporality creates problematic distinctions between the ‘contemporary’ and the‘archaic’, between the ‘modern’ and the ‘traditional’ and between globalisation’s GMT and cultures, subjects and areas that are seen to remainout of time.
