2020 Conference – Online

*The 2020 Conference has its own website. For the latest information, please visit the website here*

Due to the COVID-19 restrictions, the OZSW (Dutch Research School of Philosophy) has decided to postpone its large-scale annual conference until next year. However, in order to provide a platform for sharing research and building the Dutch academic philosophy community, there is going to be a smaller-scale online alternative offered this year, during the dates of the originally planned conference: 11-12th December 2020. This online conference will be organized by Tilburg University, and hosted online via the conference website.

Conference information

The conference is open to all those who are part of the Dutch-based academic philosophy community (including ReMa and PhD students). This includes those who have (or will have) an official appointment at a Dutch academic institution, those who have had an official appointment at a Dutch academic institution within the past two years, or Dutch philosophers with an affiliation abroad.

Due to the smaller-scale online nature of the conference, there will be no keynote presentations or panel discussions. Instead, the conference will focus on individual papers that are pre-recorded or pre-written, and made available for watching or reading before the start of the conference. An online discussion forum will be made available for conference participants to ask questions and comment on each paper. During the conference itself, online parallel sessions will be scheduled to facilitate live discussion of papers, grouped together by topic and field of interest. On the last day of the conference, there will hopefully be an opportunity for those who have participated online to meet in-person for drinks and snacks with those located in the same city.

The conference will also host the usual Chamber meetings, and a general OZSW meeting devoted to the topic of collaboration between chambers to organize joint PhD course.
