The meaning, use and practical implications of the concept of human dignity continue to be a highly controversial topic. This holds for various applied contexts, and especially for its role within the human rights framework, but also for instance what regards the connections between a moral and a legal understanding of human dignity. In this small workshop we hope to shed light on different pressing questions about human dignity and human rights by approaching the topic from a variety of perspectives. Participation is free of charge, but you are kindly asked to register before 8 April by sending a message to Marie Göbel: m.c.gobel@uu.nl. Please also indicate whether you would like to attend the workshop dinner (at your own expense) and if you have any dietary wishes.
The workshop is connected to Marie Göbel's PhD-thesis "Human Dignity as the Ground of Human Rights. A Study in Moral Philosophy and Legal Practice" which she will publicly defend the next day (17 April, 10.30, Academiegebouw Utrecht).
