SYMPOSIUM "Parental responsibility in the context of neuroscience and genetics" What responsibilities do parents have towards their (future) children? A question with multiple dimensions, that is of importance in core discussions in reproductive ethics as well as in neuro-ethics and mental health ethics. Should parents select the children who are likely to have the best start in life? Does parental responsibility require diagnosing neurological differences in children and treating them? Does it require preventing these differences altogether? Or should parents accept these differences instead? On December 9, we will tackle different aspects of these questions in the one-day symposium "Parental responsibility in the context of neuroscience and genetics". Confirmed speakers include Prof. Dr. Anna Bosman (Universiteit Nijmegen), Dr. Peter Herissone-Kelly (University of Central Lancashire, Prof Dr. Frans Feron (Universiteit Maastricht), Prof. Dr. Guido de Wert (Universiteit Maastricht). The conference will take place between9:00 - 17:30 at Maastricht University, Universiteitssingel 60, Maastricht, The Netherlands. Below you may find a preliminary agenda. There are no registration fees, but if you would like to attend please send a message tok.hens@maastrichtuniversity.nl before November 10th. We still have two slots open for speakers.
