Seminar ‘Can pornography be art?’
7 May 2013 @ 15:00 - 17:00
|We are inviting all those doing research in the philosophy of the arts to participate in a newly launched study group, under the aegis of the Dutch Research School Philosophy (OZSE): “Aesthetics/Philosophy of the Arts”.
The Topic of the study group is:
Philosophical research of aesthetic aspects of culture, and of the arts, from any philosophical tradition, concentrating on contemporary debates.
We intend to have regular meetings for discussion of members’ papers, as well as to organise a session at the next annual meeting of the OZSW, and (later) to seek co-operation for the organisation of one or more courses for Master- or Phd-students.
To kick off, at our first meeting we read two texts on the question whether or not pornography can be art, by Hans Maes and Rob van Gerwen.
For now, everyone interested to enlist is asked to contact the co-ordinator, Rob van Gerwen, by email: rob.vangerwen@phil.uu.nl
Our first meeting is scheduled May, 7 (15.00-17.00 hrs), to take place in Utrecht: Kromme Nieuwegracht 80, Van Ravensteijnzaal.
About the OZSW event calendar
The OZSW event calendar lists academic philosophy events organized by/at Dutch universities, and is offered by the OZSW as a service to the research community. Please check the event in question – through their website or organizer – to find out if you could participate and whether registration is required. Obviously we carry no responsibility for non-OZSW events.
