Representation: useful, useless or harmful?
The concept of a “representation” is among the most (mis)used in cognitive science: sometimes finding out how the brain represents things is seen as the ultimate goal of the field, and sometimes representation is dismissed as a misleading idea that doesn’t bring us any closer to understanding the brain. We will try to clarify what we mean by representation, what its limitations are (and what the alternatives are), and why ultimately we might not want to throw it out the window yet.

About the OZSW event calendar
The OZSW event calendar lists academic philosophy events organized by/at Dutch universities, and is offered by the OZSW as a service to the research community. Please check the event in question – through their website or organizer – to find out if you could participate and whether registration is required. Obviously we carry no responsibility for non-OZSW events.
