PhD Writing Retreat 2025
Do you have trouble concentrating on your writing? Do e-mails keep dropping in just as you were about to finish that paper? If you need to banish distraction and focus to chase your PhD goals, a writing retreat could be just what you need! Finally, you’ll have time to start that paper, finish your chapter, or revise that report that you’ve been meaning to send out.
The OZSW PhD council is organizing a writing retreat from October 20 – 23 at the charming and quiet ISVW Landgoed (in Leusden, near Amersfoort) for all OZSW PhD candidates. For only 150,- euros, you will get a private room for 3 nights, breakfasts, lunches, 3-course dinners and, most importantly, the solitude to write for 4 days straight. As a break, you can take a walk in the beautiful forest.

Participants are welcome to start writing at ISVW on Monday 20 October, 09:00.
A small opening session will be organised on Monday morning, exact time to be announced.
A communal writing room is available each day from 09:00 – 23:00 with the exception of Thursday the 23rd (09:00-17:00).
Breakfast (07:00-10:00), lunch (12:30), and a three course dinner (19:00) is served daily in the restaurant (no dinner on Thursday).
You can check into your room (‘Comfort’) on Monday after 14:00 and you need to check out on Thursday before 11:00. Luggage can be brought into the writing room before and after that or, if they have space, stored at reception.

Costs:
The retreat is only open for OZSW PhD members and costs 150 euros.

Cancellation Policy:
Due to the cancellation costs of ISVW, the cancellations costs differ from the OZSW policy, and are as follows:
- Cancellation 2 months before the retreat: full refund
- Cancellation between 1 and 2 months before the retreat: 65% refund
- Cancellation between 1 month and 2 weeks before the retreat: 40% refund
- Cancellation between 2 weeks and 1 week before the retreat: 15% refund
- Cancellation between 1 week before the retreat: no refund
If you can find a replacement, the above doesn’t apply, but you have to arrange the finances between each other yourself.
