ozsw

The Dutch Research School of Philosophy (Onderzoekschool Wijsbegeerte – OZSW) is a collaboration between the twelve founding partner universities, and their respective departments and/or faculties of philosophy. The OZSW was established at the end of 2012, and started its operations in January 2013. The OZSW comprises the former Netherlands School for Research in Practical Philosophy (OZSE), which has become the OZSW chamber ‘Ethics and Practical Philosophy’. The other two OZSW chambers are ‘History of Philosophy’ and ‘Theoretical Philosophy’.

The general purpose of the OZSW is to strengthen philosophy as an academic discipline in the Netherlands. It does so by:

1. Education. To organize educational activities that give research master students and PhD researchers access to the expertise of academic philosophers across the Netherlands. 
2. Research. To organize research activities that give academic philosophers a platform to present their work to their colleagues at Dutch universities. 
3. Community. To organize activities that strengthen the social bonds and encourage professional collaborations between academic philosophers in the Netherlands. 
4. Outreach. To collaborate with partners for the dissemination of philosophical research to professional groups inside and outside Dutch universities as well as to the Dutch general public. 

Please note that the OZSW has a very specific mission, and is not a general association of philosophers in the Netherlands. There are other forums and organizations for these purposes.
