All are welcome, attendance will be free, but registration will be necessary. The occasion of the event is that Maarten Coolen has spent half a century teaching and doing research at the university, first in mathematics, later on in philosophy. But this is merely the occasion. The symposium is held because of the significance of the topic. Language: English Venue: Universiteitstheater, Nieuwe Doelenstraat 16-18

* What can phenomenology say about how love exists, i.e. how it is necess?arily a constitutive element of human life?
* In which way can a phenomenologically oriented philosophical anthropology help us understand its fundamental structure?
* Why is it that love is not merely some additional (ontic) aspect of life that can make life pleasant and can let us feel good (which it can do, of course, but not always does)?
* And therefore must be conceived of as having ontological importance for human existence?
